Google launches a new removals tool within Google Search Console and that is the “Removal tools” in the Index section. This removal tool have three features First is, lets you temporarily hide URLs from showing in Google search, Second is, show you which content is not in Google because it is “outdated content” and the third is, shows you which of your Links were evaluate by Google’s SafeSearch adult filter.

How to access the Removal tool.

Anyone can access the removal tool within the Search Console, under the Index section, which is label as “Removals.” You also go through the link “”. To fetch the removal tool and then select a particular section between these 3.

Temporarily remove URLs

In this temporarily remove URLs section Google search engine allows you to remove links or URLs from showing in Google search from Search Console. This feature is also available in the old Search Console. But now it is available in the new version of the Google search console. Temporarily removals do not delete your link of the website from Google’s index. It just barely covers or hides the URL for a half year from appearing in the web index result page. If you will need to permanently delete or block the URL then there is another method to block the URL such as using a 404, robots.txt.

The major advantage of a temporary remove URL. It helps to hide the URL from Google Search for six months. And it clears the cache data of the page from the Google server.

Outdated content

The outdated content and information section provides detailed information on removal requests made through the public Remove Outdated Content tool in the search console. If Google evaluates that this particular content should be filtered from SafeSearch results. These type of URLs is tagged as adult content.

When to use Removals Tool:

  • To remove a URL quickly that you own in the Search Console.
  • Suppose you have updated your old content or blog and you want Google to reflect the changes in the search result.

When not to use Removals Tool:

  • Do not use this tool to block a page on the property which you don’t own.
  • If you want to remove a URL permanently then do not use this tool because this is just the first process.
  • Do not use this tool to remove the content from the internet because this tool just removes the content from Google Search and that is for only 6 months.
  • If you want to remove the content for other search engines then do not use it because this only removes it from Google search.
